Amherst Memory Tree 2021

The Memory Tree: A Living Tribute to Honor our Loved Ones

AMHERST – The lighting of the Memory Tree is a 25-year-old tradition in our community, sponsored by the Amherst Garden Club.

A blue spruce tree planted across from the Brick School on the Amherst Village Green will be lit on December 10th to memorialize loved ones who have passed yet are still so present in our minds and fill our hearts with love.

Each light, your light, will be a powerful reminder that we can include those who have died in our holiday traditions.

For a small donation, $10 for an individual or $25 for a family, you may have loved ones remembered. The deadline for this year is December 2nd. Names you include when you register online will be posted on a board near the tree and listed in the Amherst Citizen.

All donations are placed in the Amherst Garden Club Charitable Fund (http://amherstgardenclub.org/giving/charitable-fund), and proceeds are awarded to a community project that aligns with the mission of the Club.

To participate electronically, we have created a site that is easy to access, user-friendly, and securely served by WePay, a BNY Mellon Company. Sign up instructions are clear and simple to follow. Please click on Memory Tree to register, or visit the Amherst Garden Club website under Signup Genius.

Announcing the 2021 Sleigh Bells Marketplace and Charity Auction
Auction logo_edited.jpg

AMHERST – For the second year, the Woman’s Association of the Congregational Church of Amherst will present an online charity auction, the Sleigh Bells Marketplace. Everyone is invited to check it out and to enjoy easy shopping for unique gifts and local items. The auction will kick off on Saturday, November 6 and continue through Sunday, November 28. Proceeds from the auction will support local charities and church programs.

Some of the items to be offered include Amherst memorabilia, holiday and home decor, antiques, art, jewelry, toys, gift certificates, Red Sox tickets, a visit from Santa and more. In the absence of a Holiday Fair again this year, watch the auction website for some “Fair Favorites”: birch bark houses (ornaments and table decorations), beautifully decorated wreaths, gift baskets, South Carolina pecans and a wide variety of crafts.
