AMS 1-2 Punch Knocks Out Competition as Eagles Fly to a Division II State Championship Win!
Londonderry HS- on Saturday October 23rd, the AMS Girls Cross Country Team charged out from the start and never looked back as Samantha Swanbon and Bridget Hill took 1st and 2nd places to lead the team to yet another championship trophy!
Samantha sprinted in finishing with a new Division II course record in 12:46. Bridget followed with her usual incredible performance in 13:00. On this day, the whole team showed up to close out their season with the best, most spirited effort yet at Dylan Walker 14:00, Olivia Faucher 14:26, Madelyn Mooney 14:33, Audrey Pyles 14:40, and Anora Swanson 15:06 sealed the win for AMS.
The Eagles showed their depth in the non-scoring girls team race with Avery Heroux taking 1st place (maybe the most improved runner in the squad) and Kaili Christman sprinted to a strong 6th place finish.
The boys team has a lot to be proud of as they closed out their season with another strong performance finishing 3rd (out of 14 teams) barely nudged out in a tight race with Hollis/Brookline and Oyster River. Led by Jonas Guarrera 2nd in 11:56, with Parker Schade 6th in 12:26 and backed up with great efforts by Joe Mayo 13:07, Jack Preston 13:16, Brady Donaghue 13:19, Andrew Schade 13:43 and Thatcher Daily 13:49.
Congratulations go out, once again, to AMS Athletic Director Jeff Wing, consistently working behind the scenes, organizing and supporting the program; shepherding the “super human” efforts of coaches Tivan Casavant and Michele Donoghue who every year bring value to every one of the 60-70 X-Country participants; making practices fun & teaching the athletes how the combination of hard work and strong team spirit is the winning formula leading to championship success. Soon, the AMS administration will have to budget for more display cases to house the continued flow of trophies; as most of the top runners return next year and beyond!
AMS Eagles X-Country Teams “Fly” to Victory… Again!
On Saturday October 16th at the Tri-County Cross County Championships held at the Nashua South/Mines Fall 2.1mile course…both the Girls and Boys teams swept to 1st place victories over a dozen teams in each race.

The Boys “A team” put up a strong fight at Tri-County as they moved past the competition in the late stages of the race. Jonas Guarrera continued his family tradition of out-performance in the big meets leading the team in 12:36, Parker Schade pulled out all the stops with a gutsy effort in 13:03, steady Joe Mayo followed in 13:38, Andrew Schade continued with another PR performance in 13:48, Thatcher Daily “kicked” nicely in 13:58, Jack Preston and Brady Donahue also had strong finishes in 14:04 and 14:15.
Not to be out done the ”JV” and grade 5 & 6 runners all performed at a high level with a “swarm” of red singlets well positioned in every race. Special recognition goes to 5th grader Bryn Siska who stormed to 1st place in the girls 5th & 6th grade Division I & II (combined) race with an outstanding time of 16:00!
